In my opinion, figuring out what to name your real estate blog is easy. For the top level domain name, “yourcityrealestate.com” is the obvious choice. And the for the blog, just add a “/blog” to the domain name, and there you have it.
There are 3 reasons why I say this:
- SEO value
- Branding yourself is a lot easier to do than branding a company or other name.
Look guys, this is the internet, and most of the people out there aren’t typing in “brandname.com” into their browser. They are clicking on a link, or typing into a search engine. That’s why using the “yourcityrealestate.com” domain is so valuable. It will allow you to gain a huge advantage in ranking for the search term “your city real estate”. So instead of focusing on a brand, you will be focusing on gaining an audience (which makes sense, because you can’t build a brand anyway without an audience).
Also, because social media and email contact tools allow us to be so personal with a broad group of people very easily, we can establish a relationship with a market of people and gain their trust on our name, a lot easier than building up a brand name.
I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather buy from “Jerry Johnson” than I would from “Johnson Co.”. Think about it, who do you trust more, a friend who has built a relationship with you, or Coca-Cola?
