Giovanni Domenico Cassini, also known as Jean-Dominique Cassini (8 June 1625 – 14 September 1712) was an Italian (naturalised French) mathematician, astronomer and engineer.Cassini was born in Perinaldo, near Imperia, at that time in the County of Nice, part of the Savoyard state.
The Cassini–Huygens spacecraft, launched in 1997, was in orbit from 2004 to 2017. Asked in Planetary Science , Planet Saturn No doubt someone noticed its movement relative to the fixed stars...this has been quite obvious to the naked eye in the last year or so as it traverses the constellation Leo. * As suspected, Saturn must have internal shells of liquid and metallic hydrogen, small amounts of helium, ammonia, and water, and perhaps a small rocky core. Who Discovered Saturn? Saturn's largest satellite, Titan, is a bit bigger than the planet Mercury. The Romans, Greeks and Hindus all knew of its existence. Saturn's winds are among the Solar System's fastest; Voyager data indicates peak easterly winds of 500 m/s (1116 mph)Solarviews. Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun, with the largest planetary rings in the Solar System. The planet Saturn has been known since ancient times and was observed for thousands of years by the people of many different cultures. [more] The new belt lies at the far reaches of the Saturnian system, with an orbit tilted 27 degrees from the main ring plane.

The main rings are A, B and C. Rings D, E, F and G are fainter and more recently discovered. This was the first landing ever accomplished in the outer Solar System. Fifty-three moons are confirmed and named and another 29 moons are awaiting confirmation of discovery and official naming. Three Interesting Facts about Saturn Fact 1: Saturn is composed mainly of hydrogen gas (93%), with smaller proportions of helium, ammonia, methane some other gases. Saturn's finer cloud patterns were not observed until the Voyager flybys.

Galileo discovered staurn in the lat 1610's by looking through a telescope Saturn has been known since ancient times. It is five times as weak as predicted by theory. Since then, however, Earth-based telescopy has improved to the point where regular observations can be made. Cassini is known for his work in the fields of astronomy and engineering. Saturn's rings can be seen with even a small telescope. [more] Verbiscer and colleagues used Spitzer's longer-wavelength infrared camera, called the multiband imaging photometer, to scan through a patch of sky far from Saturn and a bit inside Phoebe's orbit. Saturn's moons range in size from larger than the planet Mercury — the giant moon Titan — to as small as a sports arena. Three missions were flybys, which formed an extended foundation of knowledge about the system. Since Saturn, like all the naked eye planets, was discovered in prehistoric times, we have no record of how it was discovered. There is no single person who is credited with the discovery of Saturn. It is one of the planets that can be seen in the sky without a telescope. * A magnetic field was discovered around Saturn, larger than the Earth's, but smaller than that of Jupiter. One side of the moon is darkened as the moon plows through the dust of Saturn's newly-discovered infrared ring. He also discovered its moon, Titan. Above: An artist's concept of the newly-discovered infrared ring around Saturn.

He thought the planet to be of a strange oval shape. Saturn is visible in the night sky with just your eyes, no need for a telescope.
TOI-197.0 is about 5 billion years old and the size of Saturn, but it is much warmer than Saturn, and takes 14 days to orbit its star. It was discovered by ancient people who just looked up at the sky and saw it. A …
