Real Estate Prospecting: In a Way, Kind of Like Job Hunting

March 5, 2011

I ran across an interesting post by Anne Gottlier, with this title:

“It’s Hard When You Have To…Easy When You Want To”

Now the article has some good motivational points to keep you looking for and picking up leads for your real estate business. But the title is what I want to focus on for just a moment.

It really doesn’t matter what you are doing in business, whether you are running a blog/website, a real estate business or looking for a job, if you are going to be successful, you have to plug away at it continuously.

And just like job hunting, it is a lot easier to land a new client, when you already have a client.

Why is it this way?

Well for one, you don’t have to get the new one, because you already have one going. And this makes all the difference in the world. You are relaxed, you are in a position to negotiate the deal you want, and generally people want to work with successful people; people who they perceive do not actually need them in order to pay their rent next month.

Why? Because if we think that they need us, we tend to believe that they are not successful, not good at what they do, and therefore will not produce the result we want…hey, it’s just how we are. Think about it and let me know your thoughts below.
